Serenity, tome 1 : those left behind de Joss Whedon

• Résumé: 

With the war between the Alliance and the independent Browncoats over, Mal Reynolds, captain of the Serenity, and his crew of misfits, fugitives, and would-be outlaws work the frontier. Defeated and directionless, their goal has become simply to keep flying, and Mal is willing to take any job, in- or outside the law, to achieve it. Although their willingness to flout rules has occasionally played to their favor, they may be in over their heads in taking aboard Simon and his damaged sister, River, secretive fugitives from the Alliance. Mal and his crew may not know it, but the hunt is on, and the Alliance is right behind them. Whedon elaborates on his Firefly universe in this small prequel to the movie Serenity. If this story doesn't have much in the way of plot or background, an aura of character study suffuses it, enlightening Serenity newcomers while warming the hearts of fans. Will Conrad's slick and fluid artwork captures the essence of how the film actors realized the characters without losing comic-book feel. 

 

• Mon avis:  

Those left behind est le premier tome d'une série qui en compte pour l'instant quatre. Elle est l'adaptation d'une histoire qui a commencé en série télé (Firefly). La première saison n'ayant pas très bien marché, elle a été arrêtée. Mais une communauté de fans était née. Une suite a vu le jour sous forme de film (Serenity). Puis des BDs.

 

On se trouve dans un univers à la Star Wars mais j'ai eu l'impression que les personnages se prenaient moins la tête. Il n'y a pas vraiment de héros, de grands méchants, ou même d'anti-héros. Pour ça, l'histoire est vraiment réaliste. On a l'impression que l'intrigue évolue à notre niveau, comme si dans ce monde, on pourrait vivre ce que les personnages vivent.

 

Dans le premier tome, l'histoire sert juste à  introduire les personnages et l'univers. Il est un peu trop court, il faut avoir la suite sous la main. Enfin, cette BD peut se lire sans avoir vu la série et/ou le film. J'ai commencé par elle, ça ne m'a pas posé de problème.
